The 1911 census shows him living in Terrington St John age 31 with his wife Lilly, children Lillian, Frederick [born in Tilney] and William [born in Terrington, and his widowed mother in law  Mary Elizabeth Middleton.

We believe in the battle of Broodseinde, West Flanders, Belgium. The family have in their possession his death penny. Issued to families of those who died in the great war.

The 1911 census shows him age 30yr, living in Tilney St Lawrence, a farm labourer, he is listed as a single man, with him is his widowed mother Sarah age 67, brothers George age 40yr, single. Harry age 19yr single and sister Georgina age 27yr, single. Alfreds older sister Dora Eliza Hancock married William Childs, they are my great grandparents and resided in Magdalen.

Charles John Nelson was born in East Dereham. The only connection found is a brother Herbert Cecil Nelson born in Tilney 1902.

The 1911 census shows a James Wellington Ping age 58 [a farmer] born in March and his wife Charlotte living in Tilney St Lawrence with a daughter named Mabel.

The 1911 census shows a Thomas Poll age 18yr living in Tilney St Lawrence with his parents Thomas Poll age 41, a steam roller driver, his mother Susannah and 9siblings.

I was unable to find a death record, but medals were presented to a Thomas Henry Poll.
